It zaps more pram than the startup command, and permits you to save good pram and restore it. It also shows and explains the pram settings. It also reports system and hardware information, displays hard drive data, and analyzes system files for damage. Version 1.1.2 adds system file listing controls, the ability to identify Mac clones and to personalize the program with pict files, support for system 7.5.5, and new CPU models and computer models missing from gestalt. 318K. €Online Mac Ratings from MacUser Includes UMAX & Motorola models €New MacUser Files BeView 1.0 is an extension that patches the buttons, windows, scroll bars, menu colors, and Finder icons to resemble that of the BeOS, Jean-Louis Gassee's alternative OS [which rumours declare that Apple may buy!]. It features tabbed 3D windows, replaces default folder icons with open manila folders, replaces the Apple Menu with the Be icon, and more. This preview of the BeOS offers good screen candy and a change of pace from the same old Mac OS interface. 95K. CopyPaste 3.2 brings the old Mac System clipboard up to par with the modern Macintosh. It adds ten clipboards and clip editing capabilities to the Edit menu as if they were part of the applications themselves. Use the familiar Cut/Copy/Paste key combinations, but also type a number from 0-9 before you release the command key to denote which of your ten clipboards you want to paste to. Version 3.2 contains a 10-clipboard floating palette and a new XTND import tool. 147K. GIFConverter 2.4d18 can view GIF, TIFF, RIFF, JPEG, RLE, PICT, Startupscreen, Paint or Thunderscan docs on any Macintosh. GIFConverter lets you save to any of these formats, plus EPS, or print them to any Macintosh printer. SWREG ID #90. Version 2.4d18 is now PPC native, supports progressive JPEG and more GIF features, is more Web friendly, and makes many other improvements and bug fixes. 1274K. GraphicConverter 2.5.1 is a first-class graphics conversion program that supports all of the popular formats such as GIF, JPEG, PICT, TIFF, EPS, etc. It not only imports just about anything, it can also export to most common formats. Version 2.5.1 includes a number of bug fixes and improvements, including Print Catalog subfolder support. 1215K. App: Updater: Now Startup Manager 7.0.2 Updater patch updates Now Startup Manager from version 7.0.1 to version 7.0.2. This update fixes problems with not reading CC prefs completely, constant rebooting, key selection of the current startup set, and the Netscape filter. This update also includes an updated Now Startup Manager Reference Library. 381K. Talking Mouse Pack Vol. 1 is a collection of face and phrase files for MacUser's Talking Mouse. This archive contains the following files: "Bo Duke", "Mouse Moose", "Star Trek Phrases", "Zurp's Face", "Apple Face", "Trash Face", "Yggdrasil's Face", "Yohann the Slug", and "Marathon Marine". These files are the property of their authors. 47K (You can get Talking Mouse itself from: ) After Dark Online 4.0 is a free version of the popular screen saver that shows you get the latest news and information over the Net as it runs. After Dark Online comes with version 4.0 of the After Dark engine. Instead of screen-saver modules, however, you can choose to view "channels" of information from ZD Net, Sports Illustrated, USA Today, and more, as well as continuous stock and sports tickers. 1956K. Disk Charmer 3.0.5 is a small utility for erasing any type of disk. Supports drag-and-drop erasure, and scanning and locking out bad sectors. If you erase a floppy by mistake, you can even undo the erasure! With the Thread Manager installed, Disk Charmer can format disks in the background. It also supports DiskDup+ and DiskCopy images, and has Balloon Help. Version 3.0.5 was compiled with the InternetConfig 1.3 glue and makes other minor improvements. 109K. GIFBuilder 0.4.1 lets you create animations for Web pages without requiring any plug-ins, Java applets, or server-pushes. After you've created a multi-frame animation, drag the frames into GifBuilder. It will convert them into a GIF file which supports multiple frames. It's also AppleScriptable. Version 0.4.1 includes lots of bug fixes and performance tweaks. 154K. PageSpinner 1.2.1 is a favorite shareware Web authoring tool. It lets you create Web pages in a view where you can see and edit HTML tags directly. PageSpinner appropriately colors and styles all the text in your HTML document. PageSpinner supports a wide range of HTML tags and will help you learn HTML as you go via its HTML Assistant feature. 812K. SndSampler 3.1 can record new sounds, extract sounds from any file or application, edit them, change them and add special effects. And using the "Save In" command, you can save selected sounds in the resource fork of any application. The program provides for various levels of resolution and compression, and includes many special effects. Version 3.1 makes unspecified changes. 159K. TattleTech 2.53 provides complete information (over 800 items) about your Mac. The info can be viewed on screen, printed, written to a text file, or output in database-readable format. Its reports can be used for reporting problems to software and hardware manufacturers. Version 2.53 fixes bugs with System 7.5.5. 399K. Abuse Demo is the latest offering from Bungie Software, the creators of Marathon. Though the plotline is essentially the same (kill the aliens before they kill you), the point of view is from the side, giving the game more of an arcade feel. Players can run, jump, shoot, and even fly in any direction. This 4-level demo is fully functional and configurable and includes tips on game play. 4898K. Click, there it is! 1.0.7 streamlines file saving. While your Save dialog is open, just click in any open Finder window and your file will be saved to that folder, disk or even the desktop. If you're using WindowShade, you can click on the "rolled-up" title bar. Version 1.0.1 fixes a folder display problem. 18K. Weather Tracker 2.2.1 (formerly MacWeather) can instantly retrieve weather information for hundreds of cities around the world over the internet. It takes just seconds and it provides forecasts, current temperature and much more. Version 2.2.1 fixes several bugs and adds new Quebec titles. 711K. Control PPP 1.3 puts useful PPP tools in your Control Strip or Desktop Strip. The three parts are 'Configure MacTCP', 'Configure MacPPP' and 'Connect'. While connected, a globe icon changes to show that you are connected, and the third menu item changes to 'Disconnect'. Version 1.3 adds new icons, fixes numerous bugs, and includes more robust error handling at startup. 23K. Jon's Commands 1.7.2 is an AppleScript scripting addition which, among other things, allows control of the Clipboard from AppleScript, returns hardware information and lets you get a list of selected Finder items. Version 1.7.2 reworks the ordering of the "walk folder" execution so that deleting files and folders is possible, and makes "DeleteFile" delete folders recursively. 109K. uucd 2.4.4 is an amazing uuencoder/decoder that is small and fast. It supports drag and drop, strips headers and footers, allows easy rearrangement of multiple segments in an intuitive graphical interface. For encoding, uucd will automatically segment a file according to the line limit preference setting. Version 2.4.4 implements deletion marks and now bases the filetyping mechanism on Internet Config. 63K. Frontier 4.1 Upgrade updates version 4.0.1 of Userland's scripting application, Frontier, to version 4.1. This update includes navigators; an updated user's guide; tables for overnight scripts, hourly scripts, and workspace; MacBird cards; thread .xxx verbs; db.xxx verbs; website building cleanup; and the new NetFrontier suite of scripts that allows multiple versions of Frontier to interact on a network. 1498K. Myrmidon Demo 1.0.3 is a demo version of Terry Morse Software's Myrmidon, a Chooser extension that lets you create HTML code from any application. Select Myrmidon in the Chooser, and when you print a file, it will be converted into an HTML document ready for editing and posting to the Web. Myrmidon also lets you select "virtual printers" to simplify standard printing tasks. 433K. Escape Velocity 1.0.3 is an extraordinary science-fiction adventure game puts you in command of a starship and opens the door to over 100 worlds and multiple plot threads. The extensible architecture has resulted in many game add-ons from fans and Ambrosia Software. Great arcade action, strategy, and role-playing make this game a MUST download. Version 1.0.3 makes many bug fixes and improvements, notably to game loading and playing speed. 5449K.
